MEETING MINUTES

II. Dr. Wesson Reflection:

  • Robb-incorporating asking the questions differently to get to the answer
  • Gerry- Autoponder comment
  • Fawzia- drawing and diagramming important take away- incorporating more of that in the class
  • Karalyn- standing up increases 15% of your capacity, writing is understanding learning.
  • Mike- Letting the content sit in for a while, begin one thing, then starting in another thing. Active students, active learning
  • Gary-Sharing, when they are going through equations and solutions...
  • Craig- Neuroscience bringing cognitive learning and the sciences together. 22 minute lecture max.
  • Paul- 22 minute thing, getting students involved, articulate
  • Andrey- Never say no, forced autoponder silence
  • Andrew- timing, pacing, sense of humor, interactivity
  • Lee- emotions will spark attention, and that drives learning, vested in the situation.
  • Gina-everyone's engaged, tactile- touch, in fetal development 50% of cells go to your brain, 50% go to your skin.

III. Science Dept. Handbook

  • Full Update- is Complete- we need to have it complete by Dec. 1st- one copy to WASC
  • Bringing to next meeting

IV. Formal Observations
  • Post observation meeting- sign up at Biohaz, meet on Dec. 13 (10-15 min. sit down during the day)

V. Open House
  • Duties assigned-
  • Presenters- we need to revisit the presentation and decide whether or not to stick with the current or change, meet this Tuesday at 7:30am
  • Student presenters needed-Juniors and Seniors preferred.
  • Textbooks- we need copies of our text
  • Pix needed- slideshow, artifacts for display
  • Recruiting for volunteers, e.c. is OK

VI. Dept. Budgets

  • Each person in subgroups responsible for budget, subgroups
  • Tech Dept. - software requests, hardware requests also to tech dept.
  • P.D. line item- estimate specific costs for conferences, etc.
  • Due in December

VII. 90 Minute Final Exams for Seniors and Underclassmen
